Question Another 4-in-1 Wifi Adapter Prob

I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THAT I WAS INSTRUCTED TO DO, WHICH WAS, INSERT CD, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, INSERT ADAPTER. I USED THE WINDOWS CONNECTION WIZARD ON BOTH PC'S, AND I'M GETTING NOWHERE. I HAVE A CABLE BROADBAND CONNECTION ON MY MAIN PC, THE OTHER PC ISN'T HARDLY 30FT AWAY IN ANOTHER ROOM. AM RUNNING XP ON BOTH PC'S. WHAT GIVES? I DID FOLLOW THE ADVICE GIVEN TO LAST PERSON WITH PROBS WITH THIS DEVICE. IT IS IN STATION MODE. I'VE TRIED IT IN BOTH, SINCE HE WAS A 2000 O/S USER. HAS ANYONE SUCCESSFULLY USED THIS DEVICE? THIS IS SOFTGATE 4 IN- 1 WIRELESS NETWORK, ROUTER USB ADAPTER DEVICE. DO I NEED MORE EQUIPMENT THAN JUST THIS LITTLE ADAPTER?
