Modem/Hub problems

Okay, trying to set up a home network with 2 computers. Using a Modem and a Hub (details on them listed below). The problem is, only 1 computer can connect at a time.

Modem: Speedstream External Ethernet ADSL Modem - 5100 Series (Pretty sure it's a modem/router, so I got a hub instead of a router)
Hub: Linksys (Network Everywhere) 10/100 5-Port Hub (Model #: NH1005-MW)

Can this be resolved without calling my ISP?

I suspect this is not the model that has a router embedded. To see, for the working computer, do this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

This IPCONFIG appears to have a USB interface and nothing connected to the Ethernet connection. Is this the working unit?

yup. Both of them work and connect just fine, but only one will connect at a time. I did that on the first computer while it was connect. It's closed to the modem. I can post a IPconfig from the other computer if necessary. I don't see how it'd be USB. Neither the Hub or Router have USB output.

I don't think this device is a router, since you have a public IP address. If it's supposed to be a router, my guess is it's configured in Bridge mode and not doing the routing function.

When you get the other machine connected, I'll bet it's IP address is also 64.x.x.x, not a private IP address as you would get with a router.

From the LAN Status thing though, it says the IP Address is 169.254.76.23. It's confusing, because we have several IP addresses. They all start with either 64 or 69.

The 169.254.x.x address is Windows autoconfiguration address for when it can't obtain an IP address from the DHCP server, or no DHCP server is found.

Buy a broadband router, your problems will be solved.
