Connected once for 5 - 10 mins ... now cannot connect
This is driving me crazy!!!
I have reformatted my WIN XP PRO based system. I want to connect my bsnl broadband using D-Link GLB-502T adsl modem. I am using a usb cable to connect to the PC and sharing the connection with a cat5 rj45 cable. When I open the web based management for creating a new connection using \\192.168.1.1 every thing done properly and saved. I tried using the tutorial as provided in the attachment. The pppoe led should glow for proper internet connection, but it doesn't. Plz help http://www.4shared.com/file/17121384..._GLB_502T.html

Re: Connected once for 5 - 10 mins ... now cannot connect
What is the issue? You should be able to connect a switch to that router and connect as many systems as you like. However, with no information about what the issue is, it's hard to offer any help.
Please supply the following info. The name of your ISP and country of residence. Connection type, wired, wireless. Make/model of network card or wireless adapter. Make/model of your computer. Version and patch level of Windows, i.e. XP-Home SP2.

I have a d-link GLB 502 t adsl 2+ broadband modem. My ISP is BSNL (INDIA). I am using winxp sp2 on my system and have connected the modem via usb cable to my system. I have created a account using the modem web based management interface ... by using http://192.168.1.1 and logging in as .... USERNAME = admin and PASSWORD = admin. I have opted for a PPPoE connection and when ever I switch on the modem and my system it connects to internet .... which is O.K.
I have also tried a bridge connection from the web based management interface ... but it takes long to connect and frequently shows 678 error. Now I would like share this connection to four more systems ... which are using XP. I am using a switch to share the connection. I have tried to connect the modem's ethernet port to the switch but no internet could be found on the other 4 systems. After all the mess I have shared the internet using a Proxy software (winproxy). Now here one more problem has been seen ... If I use kaspersky antivirus in conjunction with this proxy software ... kaspersky quickly removes the softwares proxy.exe .... thinking it as a virus.... so I kept it trusted apps ... but still the same .... now I am back to avast which doesn't kill this exe... but this antivirus is worthless as far as I have tested..... This is really driving me nuts .... Please help ..... ![]()

Re: Connected once for 5 - 10 mins ... now cannot connect
Don't bridge the router, or you'll only be able to connect a single computer. I'd reset the router to factory defaults, configure the WAN section for PPPoE as before, and just connect the switch. That should be all that's required.

Re: Connected once for 5 - 10 mins ... now cannot connect
O.k.... Thanks ..... Now I found out the the switch doesn't have a uplink port ... so can I use the regular ports for sharing..
I would also like to know about a proxy software that is easy to use and compatible with kaspersky

Re: Connected once for 5 - 10 mins ... now cannot connect
If either the switch or the router have auto-MDX ports, it'll work fine. If neither have them, you'll need a crossover cable to connect them.
