USR 9003 router no response
Two days ago I updated the firmware of my US Robotocs 9003 router and once I restarted the PC, it cold not get reponse of the router.
When I ping with the gateway address or my IP address, I always get error. No file has been received and all files were lost, tells the message. I even pushed in the back of my router inside the hole with a pen, which should mean rebooting, but it does not work. When I turn on my US Robotocs router, the lights of the Power (green) and the one of ENET 1 (yellow) turn on, but the one of the ADSL doesn't. And I have checked all the connections. I've used the installlations wizard of US Robotocs and it always finishes by sayinf that no router was found and I shall check all the connections, what I've done serveral times. My phone line works perfectly, because I'm usin now my 56K modem to get to the Internet. I also have updated and renewed the drivers of my Ethernet card. What could I do before I change my router? Is there anything to do? Thanks |

I think the significant point is " updated the firmware of my US Robotocs 9003 router". I suspect the FLASH operation went bad, and it's probably time to send it back to USR for repair.

The problem with 9003 is that before update firmware must reset configuration, by pressing backhole or by "restore & Restart" in tools menu.
If you dont do it the modem hangs with adsl ligth on (but no cable inserted !!!!) To FIX: first you have to delete config by pressing hole in back (press a lot of time to be sure). have to connect via RS-232 (console) to a COM port in the PC, and using a terminal program (9600 bauds). Start terminal program (I used ERIX on my old MSX) (hiperterminal dont works for me, it dont take my key pressing) connect switch on 9003 then a menu appears with 2 options 1- Emergency recover 2- The bios you have updated. you have to press 1 then the router is started in "simple mode" (only ethernet #1 works) now update the bios by ftp like normally. switch off Enjoy. If you cant reset config insert original firmware by this method, then reset config, and then insert new firmware. Greets. ![]() |
