Cisco Router Connectivity

Hi-

I just picked up a 2610 and I've tried everything to be able to attach it to my PC and operate it via hyperterminal. I can't get the right com port assigned to my hyperterminal connection. The only com ports that device manager sees are LPT1 and COM1 (on PCI standard ISA bridge) which aren't USB connections.
Should I buy an rj45 to LPT1 adapter? I have no DB9 serial port. I've tried using a rolled network cable from the router's console port to a USB with an adapter. Am I supposed to use a rolled cable from the cable modem into the router's aux port?
These answers would be as good as gold if you could assist me, thanks!

Re: Cisco Router Connectivity

I am just starting myself and I use a AirLink usb/serial adapter. It works fine.
