Re: EXTREME HELP NEEDED - Network Dies every Minuite ! Interenet is like turned off!
I've been having a similar issue with my internet connection as well. It doesn't happen every minute but it happens often. I hope someone can resolve this issue.

Re: EXTREME HELP NEEDED - Network Dies every Minuite ! Interenet is like turned off!
So you reset BOTH the router and the modem to make the connection come back up? Will it work if you power cycle just the modem? What about the lights on the front of the modem when your connection stops. Do any of them turn yellow or red? Has anything changed since about the time the problem started?
From personal experience, I can say that the more frustrated and angry you get at a problem, the more difficult it can be to solve. Relax, and try to provide any info you can that may be helpful. Last edited by electric_dragon; 04-09-2007 at 11:39 AM. |

Re: EXTREME HELP NEEDED - Network Dies every Minuite ! Interenet is like turned off!
Its VERY Weird. NONE of the lights change colour or even turn off, but, and if this help, the WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER troubleshooter tells me that my "Default Gateway" is offline.
I believe thats my router, and again ... no LEDS change or go out. P.S When I reset my router/modem *The way my ISP told me several times* is but unplugging both for 30 seconds. Then plug in the modem till al lthe lights appear, then plug in the router ... this does work and the connection still dies. |

Re: EXTREME HELP NEEDED - Network Dies every Minuite ! Interenet is like turned off!
I'm sure they closed the ticket after that little 'solution'.
To troubleshoot this, we need to narrow the scope of the problem. Please tell us the make/model of your equipment. Go to START->RUN-> type in CMD then press ok, then type in this command and copy/paste the results here: IPCONFIG /ALL When the connection goes down, please tell us if: 1. The connection comes back up after you reset JUST the modem. 2. The connection comes back up after you reset JUST the router. 3. The connection comes back up after you reboot JUSt your computer, but leave the router and the modem alone. |

Modem - Motorola SurfBoard
Router - Linksys WRT54G http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9635/ipconfigsy1.jpg The problem is fixed when I reset the router only.

Re: EXTREME HELP NEEDED - Network Dies every Minuite ! Interenet is like turned off!
In my case when my internet connection dies, I find my modem is the culprit. The "activity" light does not light up, when its suppose to. Resetting the router and/or the modem doesn't help me at all. The only way I get my connection to work again is to plug the modem into my desktop/laptop directly and the connection comes right back. After about a mintue or two, I connect everything back the way it was and its fine (wall to modem to router). Any ideas why its like this???

Re: EXTREME HELP NEEDED - Network Dies every Minuite ! Interenet is like turned off!
You are not the only one to have this sort of problem with the WRT54G router.
A common solution to this problem I've found is to make a single change in the way the router is configured. To do so, you will need to access the router configuration page, and open up the setup tab. The following screen shot can be used as an example, to show you where the MTU setting is. The rest, I'd leave alone since we already know that works. Set the MTU setting to manual, and enter in 1500 in the box below. http://www.gorge.net/help/wizard/lin...s/linksys2.JPG Also note what firmware version your router is at. Try it, let us know if it works! Last edited by electric_dragon; 04-11-2007 at 02:57 PM. |
