Solved: please help! cant access internet!
hi guys
im having problems with conntecting to internet, i always get a message at the bottom right corner says" the connection has limited or no connectivity, and sometimes" the network didn't assign a network address to the computer". I have a cable broadband connection and connected thru a modem to my computer, actually this connection was working excellent on a different computer, but when i connected the cat5 cable to another computer i just see the connection allright at the bottom corner( connected at 100MBps) but when i go to access the internet i get nothing just page cant be displayed. please if anyone can helpme with this it would be greatly appreciated. I tried my cd installation guide and detect the following: ethernet card yes active usb port yes tcp/ip yes 133 mhz cpu speed or better yes at least 32 mb RAM yes win95 or better yes at least 125 mb of free space yes but then i click next and failed to fix the problem( it was saying "renewing your ip address" but then got unidentified error) thanx in advance. |

Re: please help! cant access internet!
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.
For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Re: please help! cant access internet!
there's the same thread in this section, i read it all, and i did these two steps but cant get any positive results, always the same. i tested my cat5 cable on differnt computer and it worked, actually i tried to isolate the problem as much as i can, like i changed the ip addresses, dns, and gateway default but this time the status was showing connected instead of connetion limited or no connectivity but when go to access the internet i still get this page cant be displayed.
thanx 4 ur reply. |

Re: please help! cant access internet!
If you're changing the device connected to the modem, you MUST turn off power on the modem to make the change. It remembers the MAC address of the old computer if you don't.
