USB network adapter problems
I just bought a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Speedbooster. I am trying to install on an older computer that did not have a network connection of any kind, not even a modem. I just upgraded the OS system to Windows XP/SP2. When I go through the setup, the system reconizes the adapter but I get an error saying the the adapter cannot be opened (code 10).
I installed this same adapter on two other computers I have but I cannot get this one to work. Since I do not have any internet connection for the computer giving me the problem, I have not downloaded all the windows updates. There is something about my computer/OS that is preventing this device from working. Any suggestions, recommendations. Should I re-install Windows XP as a new copy instead of upgrade? Other than getting a hardwired network board, I cannot think of any way to fix this problem. Help Crossr |
