slow speeds since started wireless
Hi i have just bought a wireless adapter for my desktop pc installed it and connected it upnow i can only get speeds of under 1 Mb/s i have also been suffering from internet blackouts for the past few days before i bought the adapter. When i was connected with wires i was getting speeds ofabout 3Mb/s. I have a Belkin G+ Mimo modem router and a belkin wireless G USB Network adapter. I have requested my MAC code from my ISP and Have signed up with a more reputable one. I dont know if this is a hardware problem or an ISP problem... Any thoughts?

Re: slow speeds since started wireless
Well, wireless will be slower than wired connections. When I run a speed test I get 15mbit on a wired connection, and around 6mbit on an excellent 802.11g wireless connection. Having more than one system connected to the same AP will slow it down considerably more. Also, you need to enable encryption, or you might have a freeloader sucking up your bandwidth.

Re: slow speeds since started wireless
One thing MSN has been having issues for months now, slower than a drunken sailor. I belong to some MSN groups, its aweful. Also do you have cable modem>? We recently had our wireless go slower and slower, long story short, our splitter went bad on the main cable coming into the house, we got a new one form the cable co. and all is a lot better.

Re: slow speeds since started wireless
There is no reason that encryption on the wireless link should affect some sites loading, and I've sure never seen that. I have both my wireless router's encrypted, and they connect to all sites just fine.
