Can I port Forward my Internet
The internet is seriously slow in this house at the minute and was wondering if anything can be done to improve the speed at which the internet works.
I have tryed TCP Optimizer and the results increased ever so slighty. I am now wondering what else can be done to improve my connection and remove the slowness it has. I cant even post a post without having to refresh my browser as it keeps timing out ![]() Is there a way I can port Forward the internet port to my computer, but the only problem I see with this is that there are 3 computers all using the same modem/router. 2 of the computers are wireless and 1 is connected Via USB to the modem. I have contacted my ISP and they reccomended that I perform a full virus scan, clear cookies, and temp folders. I have had my Hijack log tested by our experts and everything was fine. I have also cleared out my cookies, cache and temp folder but these made no effect. Any Ideas or suggestions are welcome. Warm Regards, Chris |

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
There's your basic issue.
If that's the speed connected directly to the modem, you have a significant issue. Are you sure you don't have any other application using the Internet bandwidth during these tests?

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
Im sure, In my opinion, its the ISP thats at fault. As you are the network champ
can you confirm that this is the problem of the ISP and that they need to sort out the problem? Also, Is there any sort of internet watchdog I can contact in the UK regarding this?? I know dave (chauffeur2) was saying there is something similiar in OZ, but what about the UK? |

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
Boot your computer into safe mode with networking and run speed test or test from a second computer and you be able to prove an issue on the ISP end. They might have you reset the modem to default settings or see if there is a speed issue from their end.

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
With most dsl modems you can telnet or use the web gui to check your line stats out. Check if your not connecting at the correct speeds you pay for but i would contact your isp at this point.

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
I'd be complaining to the ISP, let them convince you it isn't their problem. They're the top suspect from what I see.
I'd also run the line quality tests at www.dslreports.com and post a link to the results here.

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
Unfortunatly, It wont let me as I get this error:
sorry, 86.141.***.*** is not pingable from www.dslreports.com. Please disable firewall ping protection. See this FAQ section for more information. I have turned off my firewall and also the setting is enabled so it still doesnt work with the firewall turned on. |

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
I have managed to get this through a 'Tweak Test' on the DSLREPORTS site:

Re: Can I port Forward my Internet
I'd try to configure whatever firewall you have to allow pings and run the line quality test, it's quite informative.
