Internet Connection Issues
Well, Latley I've been having this strange problem... I use torrents alot (ALOT!) and the program I use it Utorrent..The thing it that the DHT status always stays at 0 and it constantly says my port isnt opened. I know I have everything set up right with my router because the day or so before it was working fine. Now I can't bring up certain sites... For instance when I tried to log into a site it acted like I was firewalled or my internet was down...Then I clicked on "Log in unsecure" and it would work fine. I use firefox so I tried to use Internet Explorer insted but that brings up the "This page cannot be displayed" message..Once again acting like I was firewalled or my internet is down. I installed norton 2007~ to scan for viruses and once i figured my comp was WAYYY too damn slow for it I uninstalled it. Turns out I didn't have any viruses...I don't have ANY firewall installed and my windows firewall is disabled...I use a wireless connection from my neighbors house that is a decent strength..I download at a steady 150~ Kb/s. The thing is that it will drop the connection and connect to MY router in the other room. It just does it after 10 or so minutes.. It's never done that before.
So...Anyone got any ideas? And don't say let it connect to my router cuz my internet's down :P Thanks -Xura Im running Windows XP SP2 My Wireless Card is a Belkin 54 Mb/s b/g 128 Mb Ram. 1Ghz Onboard V-Card |

Re: Internet Connection Issues
Are you sure Norton is completely off your computer? The reason I ask is that earlier versions of this completely useless program embedded themselves so far into Windows, they had to make a special "uninstall tool" for them. While torrents can take up a lot of bandwidth, I'm pretty sure your issues started with Norton. I can also recall that Norton cause issues logging into secure sites- are all the sites you're trying to connect to https? You may need to go to Symantec's Website, and see if they have an uninstall program for completely removing Norton and all it's components, then I would recommend turning your Windows firewall on, and getting a good antivirus solution- two good free ones are Avast! and AVG.

Re: Internet Connection Issues
Ya.. I noticed that earlier. Lot's of programs that connect to the internet say I'm using a proxy and want an address and blah blah... I think your right though, Thanks! Just one more reason why I HATE norton...

Re: Internet Connection Issues
