Re: Fast wireless DSL modem/router

If you need really fast, DSL probably isn't the best choice. Cable or fiber connections will both be faster as a rule.

As far as DSL, pretty much any router will probably do the trick, since the speeds will be limited by the ISP, not by the router hardware.

Re: Fast wireless DSL modem/router

If you're talking about shuffling files between machines on the same network then I really suggest you go wired. I can sit with my laptop only feet from my wireless router and it still takes much longer to send data than it does when hard wired. Even a 300Mbps wireless connection will run at only a percentage of that potential speed.

Hi John, long time!

Is "n" worth the extra money or would "g" be just fine?
yeah, and least for the next year or so I'm stuck w/ DSL.
After that I'm hoping for fiber in my area!>?

Re: Fast wireless DSL modem/router

If you're concerned about file/print sharing speed, you'll notice a significant difference between 802.11g and 802.11n routers. It won't make any difference if you're just talking DSL access.
