Hi i have a Dlink dsl 504 router allowing me to accesss the internet via broadband on two computers, i need forward two ports in order to allow some file sharing software to work, i no the two ports i need to forward but i am unsure of how to do it, could some one please help me i would b very gratefull. Thank u

once you log in to the router go to advanced>port forwarding
select the LAN IP that the rules will be for. i don't use DHCP and specify an IP for each machine so i don't have to do this every time. then click the USER radio button. then click add. in the next screen you'll add the port info and protocols. in the rule name field, for some reason my D-Link router will give me the message 'rule name cannot begin with a number' if i put in 'abc' or 'xyz' or any text, but will quite happily accept the rule name '1' or '2' etc (odd, no?) once the rule is created, highlight the rule and add it to the applied rules box. then tools>system commands>save all to save all your changes. hope that helps. |
