Unable to connect even with good signal strengh?
Hi,
I am writing this for a friend of mine who is trying to connect via wireless to the net, and up until yesterday was able to connect ok. He has not made any changes at all to his pc, it just stopped working. He is running Windows 2000 Pro and using a Netgear PCI adapter card. The drivers for the card have been correctly installed and his computer is saying that he has 62% signal strengh. This makes me believe that he is at least connected. The router he is trying to connect to is a Netgear DG834PN RangeMax. He is using Avast AV, which he has tried disabling to see if that were the problem, but no joy? There are no firewalls on his pc. He tells me that he has also eliminated any Virus, Spyware or AdAware problems So anyone has any idea as to why he has 62% signal strengh, but still unable to actually get on-line. If you need any other bits of info please ask. Thank you Last edited by TheGift73; 11-18-2006 at 02:09 PM. |

Could be wireless interference, the encryption settings in the router have been corrupted, etc. One thing he might try is this Automated WINSOCK Fix all Windows Versions
