Post Firewall- HW or SW?

Hi friends,

I have 1 issue and I felt that this is the most appropriate forum as it is specifically related with my Modem.

I use HUAWEI Quidway WA1003A broadband modem to connect to internet via a 10/100Mbps LAN card. I use rasppp0e module to connect. The speed of the connection is 256kbps.

My problem/doubt is as follows:

My modem above has NAT and FIREWALL service enabled. So do I need to keep my Windows XP SP2 on board default firewall turned on? I am experiencing problem of slow browsing by the standard of my internet connection speed. I tried to use FF, IE, Avant ans SeaMonkey. The problem becomes very irritating when I am trying to post something.

So please help. :(

Thank you.

If your modem has a built in firewall , then you do not need to have the sp2 firewall on.To much of a good thing can also be very bad.
