Angry DSL Connection vs. Dialup Connection

I have DSL. My mother's laptop broke so she's been using my computer. Well, she decided to sign on through MSN one day, and ever since my computer will randomly popup with a message asking if I want to connect or work offline. When I click connect it pops up with MSN. It's really getting on my last nerve. How do I get it back to recognizing my DSL all the time???

<control panel> <internet options> and in "temp internet files" there is a button saying something like <delete cookies> and you may as well press <delete files> too and how much space has being allocated in settings ?

also ensure "automatically" check for new versions of stored pages,

sorry, i cant remember exactly how to do it in XP but i've been exclusively using kubuntu

just booted XP in VMware to find settings

hope that was helpful

Well, first thing, when that pops up, are you already tooling the net? If you are then your DSL is working. It's just something with the browser that doesn't seem to know that. How exactly did she sign on to MSN in the first place? Did she use a dial-up or did she sign on through your DSL?

if your using your dsl threw the Ethernet plug. don't have the the phone plugged in to the phone modem on your PC. who is your dsl provider? is it yahoo or msn. or who. if it aint msn. go threw your pc an delete any thing that has to do with msn. what browser are you using? if ie? go to control panel internet options an on the first page. make sure it dont have a msn home page listed there. if it is change it.
