Why does my ISP connection drop all the time?
My ISP connection keeps getting dropped (it just happened as I was typing this). Sometimes it's during the initial connection. Sometimes it's an hour or more after I've been browsing the internet and at all times in between.
I'm sure it's not the modem because this is the second computer and I'm still having the same problem. Also: Many times when the little icon on the taskbar says I'm connected and the phone line is tied up, I'm not actually connected and cannot go to any site. This was also a problem when I had the previous computer. If it means anything, I use SBCGLOBAL. -Lowell PS: It just happened again! And again before I had a chance to preview my post. |

There are a few things you can try. First make sure you have call wait diabled because it will kick you off line. The best way to do this is place *70 in front of the number you dial. That will disable call waiting for that call. Next try a different number. It could be that your distance from the server is causing the line to drop. So try a couple of different numbers and see if that helps.
