Connection problem
My problem is kind of strange. I have two pcs hooked up to a dlink router, both work correctly. I recently purchased a laptop and attempted to hook it up to one of the existing cat 5 cables. The laptop does not recognize that it is plug in, but when I connect it at the other location it works fine.
A couple of points to take into consideration with this problem. The line that works is a store bought 6 ft cable. The line that doesn't is about 200 ft and was manually put together and crimped. Remember the line works fine when plugged into the desktop but the laptop wont connect. Is it possible that the signal in the longer wire is to weak for the laptop to recognize but strong enough for the desktop??? Please help. Thanks |
