Problem with DSL and router

Here is my problem, a bit long winded so please bear with me.

I have a westell 6100 modem and a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz router. A little awhile ago it suddenly dropped the connection and my FastAccess DSL help page couldn't locate my modem. When I unhooked my router and just ran my modem, everything worked. So I went to tech support and they told me to change from a PPPoE to a Bridged Ethernet. I did this and then my internet worked for a while. Today, it did the same thing, dropped connection, could not locate modem, unhook router, everything works. It somehow got changed back to a PPPoE, so I changed it back to Bridged Ethernet, restarted my connection like I did the first time, only this time, it doesn't work. So as of right now, I have the router unhooked and I'm back using the PPPoE. Any help as to how I could fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Sounds like the modem has a problem remembering it's settings. Time for a replacement...
