Change from Linksys router to Netgear
Operating system Win98 SE; Cable connection to internet.
I am trying, without success, to change from a wired Linksys BEFSR41 to a wireless Netgear WGT624 v3 router. When I try to go to 'www.routerlogin.net' the web address appears to have '192.168.1.1/' added to it. Also Norton displays the message 'ICMP code fault '192.168.1.1/'. I am quoting these message from memory so they may not be exact. I have looked for installed Linksys programmes on my machine but can find nothing other than 3 cookies, the removal of which made no difference. I would be gratefull for help. I noticed that another member has been have problems with interference from suppliers other than her own. |

You might try and type in your browsers web address bar 192.168.0.1
This is usually the default for netgear routers.

Also remember that you need to power off the cable modem every time you change the device (router) connected to it. This clears the MAC address from the previously connected device.
