internet not working
Hey Duddess!!
Right... i have a problem! It is a very BIG problem! And i need YOUR help! because if you guys cant help me then i am using the hamer thats under me desk, and using it to smashing my computer CPU with it!! Basically the problem that i am experiencing currently is: That when i connect to the internet, it signs me in, it veryvies my user name & password and crap like that. And then it even shows me the two monitors that u get at the bottem left hand corner of your monitor screen, to indicate that i am logged onto the internet. BUT here is where the problem arises, i AM logged onto the internet, but i am not logged onto teh server, which i used 2 think was teh same thing!! Like it does not let me open mozilla or internet exploorer, or sign into msn or yahoo, or anything as such. I get a msg saying that i do not have a active internet connection, wherease the monitors suggest otehrwise. I have been trying to sort this problem out for the past 8 hour n half, and to be honest, its really taking the piss now, as i have tried everything possible that i could think of, ie. uninstalling n reinstalling my bt drivers, variouse virus scans and many more which i wont mention because if i do, this msg will get too long! Thanks before hand!! |

Hi there...
before you make a grab for your hammer..... Open IE and click File and then check if there is a tick next to 'Work Offline' if there is remove it by clicking it then restart IE to see if that helps :)

Also, what type of connection do you have? (regular dial-up, ADSL?)

When you get where it's indicating you're connected, do this.
For 98 or ME, Start, Run, COMMAND to open a DOS window: --- or --- For 2K or XP, Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here.

No worries dudes!! thanks a million all of you for your help.
I am on ADSL , but what i did was, i connected my laptop directly to th einternet downloaded a software from trendmicro.com, and then i saved it on a storage stick, and transfered it on the computer, and ran the setup and scan, and it came up saying tehre was some problem in teh network configuration. So then it asked me if it should correct it for me which i did. And its all sorted now!! thanks for your help anyways!! n btw, sorry for the double post!!
