Routers Can I use my existing ones
Have registered for another ISP with a possible 16mbps download speed.
I have no need for such a fast download speed, my present is 1Mb. But any increase is acceptable if the connection remains solid. The new ISP supplies a wireless router. I have two computers. Both with separate routers. Both up to 8Mbps download speeds. Do not wish, to mess around, going wireless at this 'point' in time, maybe later. Will it be possible, to obtain the service, up to the limit of the existing router speeds (8Mbps), in other words, using my routers, will my setup have any connection/negative effects. As I have only registered my interest (my exchange is enabled for their LLU) have no information regarding the use of their wireless router maybe it will be compulsory, don't know. I am obviously not a Techie!! |

There is no reason that I can think of that you can't use either of your routers. As long as the service terminates in an Ethernet connection, you're good to go.

You might want to check with the ISP but I do know that some DSL providers supply a Wireless router that incorporate their DSL modem. However you still should be able to set up the router as a gateway.

As said, all I have done is to register my interest. Have no details on hand.
The ISP is LLU so that means it is their equipment in the exchange, wondered if that might have had a bearing on the use of my own routers. Thanks for replies. |

I still don't see any reason you can't use the routers.
