PPPoE DSL Modem
I have a Siemens Speedstream 5200 PPPoE DSL Modem that I got from Altell to access their DSL. I have since moved and have Qwest as my DSL ISP. Qwest evidently uses PPPoA for its connections. My question is there a way to change some setting so that my modem will work on the the Qwest DSL line or do I need to get a modem that works under PPPoA? Qwest doesn't provide this kind of tech support. I have not been able to contact Siemens yet. Thanks.

My speedstream has a spot to change the PPPoE to PPPoA in the GUI of the modem. Find the IP address of the modem and enter that into a browser window. Look for a tab labled "connection configuration" and select it. You may have to enter the modem access code to proceed. This code should be on a sticker on the bottom of the modem. Look for a line with "Protocol". Mine has a drop down box to choose either PPPoE or PPPoA.
