dialup and client ip

Hi
well if any one can plz solve my confusion.

when we use dialup to access internet. ISP assign an ip to our computer.
if we check it with IPCONFIG /all
it shows us client ip and default gateway as same . means same ip.
now how our computer reach other networks as the defualt gateway is its own ip. i hope all of you understand what i m trying to ask.

You could have started by posting the IPCONFIG results, as well as the version/patch level of Windows you use.

PPP adapter guru:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 203.148.70.247
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 203.148.70.247

my question is that how my computer is able to communicate with the outside world bcz default gateway is its own ip which is assign by the ISP.

Well, if it's working, what's the problem? Since there's only one computer in your "network", it fills both roles.

subnetmask 255.255.255.255 makes it one network. with only one computer .
