using multiple modems on single dsl connection
i am staying at a house with an sbc dsl line, and i brought my own computer to the room i am staying at. i have a wireless card in my computer and also a wireless router, and i hooked up the router to the house's dsl modem and found that the router is too far away and there are too many walls in between to actually make a connection capable of using the internet.
so i took a dsl modem that i bought and hooked it up to the phone line in the room i am staying in. however, i found that only one of the computers is able to be connected to the internet at a time. if the house's computer is connected, my dsl connection doesn't work, and if mine is connected, theirs doesn't work. how would i be able to connect both of the modems to the internet at the same time? windows xp is running on both computers. one modem is a speedstream 5100 and the other is a 2wire 1000hw. thanks! also, i posted this in both "networking" and "modems", because i was unsure which it would fit in better. |
