Staying connected with wireless
I am finally wireless! Temporarily, that is!
Have a motorola router and notebook adapter. All network encryption keys set up, everything. I do get a wireless connection and can access anything online. However, I cannot seem to KEEP the connection on the laptop. Every 5 mins or so I'll get a pop-up that says "One or More Wireless Connections Available" and mine is NOT one of them. All I have to do is click on the Wireless Network Connection icon, hit "Refresh" and then "OK" and I am connected again. For 5 minutes, that is. So I'm doing this over and over. The signal strength is usually at "Good" or "Excellent" so ... ? |

Try removing all security options including WEP/WPA and MAC protection. Work your way up from there. Use simple passwords and remember to use the right key index. I personally use MAC security and a 64-Bit WEP. When I used 128-bit, my connection was unstable just as yours is.

Make sure you're not running the Windows wireless client and a 3rd party wireless adapter client. The two will fight, and you'll get disconnected every few minutes. Sound familiar?

Check in Services and make sure that the Wireless Zero Configuration is not running. If it is, you can stop it and see if that resolves the problem.
