win98 connection sharing
ive got a win98se box with two ethernet adapters. one is for dsl, the other goes to a switch. all the computers can share files, printers, etc. but i can not for the life of me figure out how to share the dsl. does the dsl need to be plugged into one of the switches? or is there a way to let the dsl be shared through win98se? i did not originally set up this network so if i am missing something that will help let me know and i will dig around.
thanks for the help |

Do yourself a HUGE favor and shop around for a broadband router, they're dirt cheap! Using ICS for this with W98 is not the way to go. Here are some examples: http://dealnews.com/deals/Comp-USA-8...15/125212.html

Indeed. Win98 ICS is very unreliable and a bit slow. If you use that machine as a dummy, a WinXP bridge would solve it, but you plan to use that machine... A router is the way to go. Simply plug in the computers to the router and plug in the DSL ethernet cable into the "WAN" or "Internet" port of the router. It doesn't even have to be a wireless router; ethernet routers(or a switch) are even cheaper.
Though I have no idea how johnwill found a 15 dollar router, here are more examples: http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_a...%5B%5D=60:1012
