Internet Connection Problem
I am connected to the internet via a cable modem. The modem will work fine for a couple minutes and then the connection will go dead. I have a Motorola modem and the lights will still be on (four green and one orange) even though the internet connection is dead. I am pretty sure the modem is not the problem since I have 1) tried with a new modem with the same result-no connection after a few mins and 2) tried with a different computer - this time there was no problem and connection was maintained for several hours.
Seems like it could be either some software issue or hardware issue with the computer but I am not quite sure what to do next. (I have removed firewall program but still same result). Could you help me with this? Thanks. |

I'd start by posting the versin/patch level of Windows in use. Then, when it's running properly, and also after it dies, do this and post the two results.
For 98 or ME, Start, Run, COMMAND to open a DOS window: --- or --- For 2K or XP, Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here.
