Generic Softk56 keeps downloading
I have acutally two issues. I use high-speed internet with a Westell Modem. My problem is that Generic Softk56 and PCI Simple Communications Controller keeps installing on my compter. Every time I boot up my computer, my home line is automatically tied up. I notice that everytime the Generic Softk56 modem is under my internet connections in the control panel. I do not want these on my computer. I want to be able to surf and talk on my home phone at the same time. What could be causing this and how in the world can I fix it? Please help.
Thanks |

I take it that the 56k generic is a dial up modem. You are now on a high
speed connection, using a ethernet port. I would assume that the dial up modem is not onboard. If this is true I suggest going to add remove programs, look for any driver that has to do with that 56k modem, and remove. Then I would shut down pc, unplug it from wall and yank out the 56k modem.
