Dial Up ISP and Internet Explorer
Hi, My parents are using a dial up ISP and getting connected to same, but are unable to use IE to surf the web. they get this page:
The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: Click the Refresh button, or try again later. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. To check your connection settings,...etc. I've also signed on to their isp after disabling my wireless card and get the same message. Any ideas? ipconfig /all follows: C:\Documents and Settings\Jim>ipconfig /all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : TOSHIBA Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Atheros AR5004G Wireless Network Ad pter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-11-F5-35-58-72 Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, June 01, 2006 2:43:33 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Friday, June 02, 2006 2:43:33 PM PPP adapter gtlakes: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-53-45-00-00-00 Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 64.68.242.222 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 64.68.242.222 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 64.68.224.8 64.68.232.8 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled Last edited by Maxmcd : 06-01-2006 at 12:59 PM. I may be wrong but my first thought is firewall/security settings settings set to high.
Possible trojan. search the net for an application called "Hyjack this" search for "HJT" normally brings it up. download and run hyjack this create a log file and post it here. This forum has an area set aside for hyjack log files. |
