Hi guys and girls, this is my first time posting on your forums, as 99% of the time someone else on here has had the same problem, and it has already been answered.
At the moment I am using the following: Windows XP (SP2 installed) Asus WL-138g (wireless adapter) An Edimax router I have the connection working fine, but my problem only arises when i restart my computer. When i restart I get the message "Limited or No Connectivity", i then have to go to Device manager and disable then enable my wireless adapter. It then picks up the connection straight away and i am able to surf fine, with no loss of connection. Any help on this would REALLY be appreciated, and i would make a point of making a small donation as a thank you, as it really is driving me crazy. One other small problem i have is when i leave my conneciton in-active for around 10 mins, it drops and i have to connect again. This is only a small gripe but any help on this matter also would be fab. Thanks guys, Good night ![]() |

In any case, rather than disabling/enabling the adapter in Device Manager, right click it in the Network Connections folder and select the option to "Repair", which will force a renewal of the IP address. Quote:
If it is a wireless connection that is dropping, this may be the usual problem of the Wireless Network Adapter "losing" its IP address, the router being unaware that it has lost it and not renewing it. This seems to be a common problem and giving the adapter a fixed IP address may improve things. |
