SBC SpeedStream 5100, Netgear FS605 switch
I have a Speedstream 5100 dsl modem. A Netgear FS605 switch. Two PC's - 1 XP Pro & 1 Win 2000.
My problem is only 1 PC is able to connect to the internet. If I unplug 1 PC the other is able to connect. I am completely puzzled. Is it the switch or the modem? Any help will be appreciated. ![]() |

Switch was a waste?
Netgear says it will allow multiple pc's to access the internet at same time at full speed. Is that correct?
I'd hate to have to go out and buy a router if I don't have to. Anyway to make it work? |

Yep, Netgear is just telling you the raw capability of the switch, but that's dependent on being able to connect multiple machines to your ISP, and I suspect that's the sticking point.

Netgear switch
The tech guys at Staples told me this would set me up so I don't have to buy a router. I use SBC dsl, I doubt they will be so kind and give me another ip address. Stupid me, bit that one hook, line and sinker.

That's the risk of getting technical advice from a $6/hr clerk!
