IE quits viewing after about 5-6 sites - loading status always listed as "Done"

We have a user here on a LAN (NT) who's Internet Explorer seems to just quit after about 5-6 clicks into the web.

This is what happens: She'll be checking various sites and then all of the sudden when she clicks on a link or bookmark the page will not load, nor will anything after that unless you close the browser down. The status on the progress bar at the bottom of the browser constantly says "Done" even though the logo is flashing in the top right corner. It seems for a split second that you can see it attempt to access the page on the progress bar, but then it immediately goes back to "Done".

Here is what I tried - cleared cache, history etc., ran spybot and ad-aware and cleaned up various items, reinstalled Explorer. The problem still persists, it has to be a settings thing or something, but I can't figure out what.
