Hello All,

I recently bought an LG notebook computer. Along with this I also have a desktop that I do most of my work on. With the notebook computer there was a "smart link" cable. I read the very limited instructions on how to share files with the cable from one computer to the other, but it is not working. Have set up all of the firewall settings as per the instructions and still no go. I keep getting a firewall error on both computers when I connect. I am getting very frustrated, since without a disk drive in my notebook, it just seems like a giant waste of money. There must be a way to share programs and files from one to the other right? Maybe via the wireless network somehow?

Would appretiate any help or pointers

I just use networking, no need for anything fancy.

Configure the machines as follows.

PC #1:
IP address: 192.168.9.1
Subnet Address: 255.255.255.0

PC #2:
IP address: 192.168.9.2
Subnet Address: 255.255.255.0

Leave the Default Gateway and DNS Server addresses blank.

Make sure any firewalls are configured to put the 192.168.9.x subnet in the trusted zone.

Finally, you'll have to enable fine/print sharing on the machines and actually share one or more folders or drives.
