XP Home Network Folder Sharing

I want to share a folder over a home network from my XP Home netbook to my Vista home prem laptop which is no problem and is simple to do however i want to make the folder private so i have to enter a password to access the shared folder this is no problem sharing from vista to xp but i cant work out how to protect sharing from xp to vista...

this is most important because i am very often on other networks such as college networks so i do now want anybody to be able to access my shared folders...

any and all help is apreciated :D

XP Home does not support password protected shares. You need XP Pro.... Or switch to Linux.

Edit: Home also does not support Remote Desktop, but you can install a VNC Client Server. There is a free version here.

Change of OS isnt rely an option does anybody know any third party software which will allow to to password protect shared folders on a network ??
