What should be a simple process to share files over XP.
I've never in my life configured our home network to enable file sharing...
I recently purchased a new Toshiba NB-205 netbook (Windows Home Edition, methinks), and was hoping to set things up so that I can snag some files off of my desktop (XP Professional, I do believe)... The Netbook connects via wi-fi to our router (We have FIOS), the desktop runs a wired connection... There are two other computers in our house that are also hooked up to the same router, and the internet and such all works fine on each. I've followed a billion different sites telling me how to set up a network, how to set up file sharing, etc etc. I follow the instructions, I do it exactly as the information they give me says, but my netbook has yet to see a single file from the desktop... They're both in the same workgroup, the professional computer has Simple File Sharing enabled, the firewall settings on each allow file sharing, I select the folder I want to share, select "Share this folder on the network", and nothing. What am I missing here? Last edited by DeathsHand; 08-09-2009 at 07:42 PM. |
