USB Hub and Xbox Streaming

Okies, got myself all confused here.

I recently got myself a Belkin USB hub, initially so that the household printer can be used by the desktop and all the laptop's via a central router.

Now I want to be able to connect and ext hd to my usb hub and stream the vids/music stored on it to the xbox 360 via the router.

Can anyone tell me if this is even possible BEFORE I start tearing my hair out trying to figure it out.

(I've tried just simply connecting the ext hd to the usb hub - it's picked up by the networked pc's but not the xbox)

Cheers all

Re: USB Hub and Xbox Streaming

What kind of "USB hub" are we talking about? Are you talking about the Belkin Network USB Hub?

I don't think the XBOX would recognize mass storage connected to that, since you'd have to have the Belkin drivers for the USB hub running on the XBOX.

Re: USB Hub and Xbox Streaming

Yes, that's the hub I'm using. I figured the drivers would be the issue. Thanks.

What's the best way of streaming to a 360 via mass storage? I have to run from a laptop at the moment, so upgrading the space on the pc isn't an option :(

Re: USB Hub and Xbox Streaming

I suspect you'll need a computer on the other end, so you'll have to configure that storage on the laptop and stream it from there. You can connect a USB disk to that hub and see if from the laptop...
