Cannot access my desktop from my laptops

Had my home network for several years. Used D-Link router to share Internet and files/folders between desktop (XP SP3 and two laptops (Vista and XP-SP2). Few weeks ago installed Verizon FIOS. (Verizon installs their router made by Actiontek)They also intalled few software - mostly for help and monitoring. That's the only change I had but looks like it changed something. Now my Laptops can not see my desktop. Desktop can see laptops and access shared files. McAfee shows all my computers. When I logon to Router-it shows all computes and their IP address, but still my desktop isinvisible for laptops on my network
Try different things - no success. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hmm... Look at the router's label and tell me if it's the Revision C model of the MI-424WR. I had one of those and it nuked my network browsing. I put another router in front of it to fix my network. I finally beat on Verizon and got a new MI-424WR Revision E, and the network works fine without the extra router.

OK, time to start looking at some other stuff.

Can you ping both ways by computer name? Ping the desktop from one of the laptops, and ping the laptop from the desktop.

Let's see this for each machine.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands.

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Lets try to work on one laptop, the second I use not often.
I can ping my laptops from desktop successfully. when ping a desktop - timeout - no success.

Bellow are the results of NBTSTAT and IPCONFIG - first for deskto and second for Vista laptop. - everything looks normal?!

If you can't ping the desktop, you almost surely have some sort of firewall product blocking the access, that's 99% of the time the issue for failure to ping.

Now we back to round one - in my first posting I wrote that McAfee shows all my computers with thierIP addresses, I know how to set up McAfee for network. My Windows firewall is off. I don't have any other firewalls installed.
What the other some sort of firewall product could be blocking the access?
Any guesses?

Any Internet security application may be the issue. It's also possible that McAfee has a problem, not that it's incorrectly configured. You may want to totally uninstall it, run the McAfee Removal Tool, then test again. If that allows pings both ways, install McAfee from scratch and see if that still causes the issue.
