Setting permissions on networked drive
Forgive me if this has already been answered somewhere else in the forum, please send me a link if that's the case. I just really don't have the time to fool around with my setup and would like answers that are specific to what I have.
So currently I have one desktop that has my network drives in it (XP pro SP3), this is wired to my router. I have had no issues getting XP and vista machines alike to pick up the drive. What I would like to do is set the permissions so only one computer on the network (Vista Home Premium) can access the drive (aside from the computer containing the drive). I mainly want to use the drive for backup. Right now the Vista machine is picking up the drive, so I guess it's just a matter of changing the permissions of the drive. So what am I going to be changing so I don't make a mess of it? Also, if there's any way to set it up so there's just a password to access the drive, that would work too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Setting permissions on networked drive
WPA2 is excellent protection assuming you have a good random key. You can use this WPA Key Generator to generate a really secure key. I believe that 20 characters is sufficient for anyone but the CIA.
