ftp and windows file sharing problem

Well I have the following problem:

For school I have to instal Adobe CS4 Master Collection (I have Vista). I can do this on 2 ways:
- Download the file from a FTP server.
- Instal from their server using windows file sharing over internet.

I tried the FTP server first, though every time I try to get on the page can not be found.
-> To get on that server I just need to copy the FTP adress in my IE, right?

So because that didn't work I would like to try Windows file sharing, though I have no idea at all how I should get on the server. The adress is something like:
\\adress-software

Where should I copy that? In the IE?

Thanks,

Tommy

PS: Sorry if I can find the answer somewhere here, but the search button kept giving this error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home/tsf/public_html/search.php on line 1160

Re: ftp and windows file sharing problem

File sharing over the Internet is a REALLY bad idea! Opening those ports leaves you wide open to all sorts of malware, this is not the way to connect.

I'd work in resolving the FTP issue, that's the right way to fetch the file.
