File transfer failing between PC and HDD via FTP
Ny mother bought this expensive multimedia harddrive which can be used as a media player, net radio and so on...
One of the other things it can do, is to act as an FTP-server so computers can wirelessly transfer files with it, instead of connecting it through the USB-port, but now I've been trying for 2 days to make it work, and as you might have guessed, I can't ![]() Here's some links to information about the hardware I'm talking about. My mother's pc (OS: Vista Home Premium) My mother's laptop (OS: XP Home) The laptop's card for wireless networkingMy laptop (OS: Vista & 7 build 7000) Our wireless router The multimedia harddrive (I live in Denmark, so the specifications on these english sites might not be exactly the same as our products Our wireless network is encrypted with a 64-bit WEP encryption. (I'm well aware that WPA is better, but not all our other things supports that) The HDD is directly connected with a cable to the router, and when I go to its configurations menu and test its net connection, it's positive. I've tried setting up the HDD as an FTP-server, which it should be able to, and if I try to connect to it with filezilla on one of the computers, I'm able to get a connection, I can delete files and delete/make folders on the HDD, but I can't make any file transfers (both upload/download) Last edited by OliverR40; 01-24-2009 at 11:23 AM. |
