Sharing internet connection on windows xp
Hello!
I have one question. I shared my internet cable connection. How to prohibit access of some computers which are connected on my network? Is this possible? Thank you. Regards. |

Don't let them plug into the switch.

Re: Sharing internet connection on windows xp
No really, isn't there another way? And if I could, I will unplug the cabels, but the situtation is different, I am using cable internet, so anyone from the cable network could use my shared internet connection. Please help.

Re: Sharing internet connection on windows xp
cable internet requires a modem, to have additional computers require a router between the modem and the computers, pull the cable to the other computers from the router

Re: Sharing internet connection on windows xp
I don't have cable modem. I don' want to use router. I have just cable which is going into the swich. Tha internet connection is working, but I cannot use it at once for both of the computers, because of 1 static IP and 1 username and pass. Isn't there another way to block access ?

Re: Sharing internet connection on windows xp
you want to block access but you want to have internet connection??? now you are confusing..
you need to explain exactly what you are doing, if you have control over the cable modem and routers, how many computers are you talking about. Be as specific as possible about the current network setup as a whole from where it comes into the house to all the computers...

Re: Sharing internet connection on windows xp
Look. Do you know what happens when you are connected to cable connection? Automatically all users using the same cable connection from the same ISP are connected in the local network, same as you have connected 100 users on switch or router. Do u think I want at least one of them using my connection?

Re: Sharing internet connection on windows xp
Quite frankly, with what you've posted so far, I have no idea what you want, or what configuration you have!
