Trying to share a printer
Hello. Just trying to share a printer with my XP 64 bit as a server. My gf laptop can see my computer in the add printer menu, but the printer is not listed under it. All I have done is enable sharing in the printer on my PC Control Panel. I've been searching the web for answers, and it seems I may need to set permissions on it? But I have no idea how to do this, and am not sure that is even the problem. There is no security tab for the printer like a lot of posts say to use.
She is using XP (not 64 bit) so would it be a driver issue possibly? |

Re: Trying to share a printer
Sorry--just to clarify: I set printer sharing for the printer, and I can print from the XP 64bit box fine (it is directly connected to it), but her laptop (which is the only other pc I've tried) cannot see the printer at all. I need it to be able to see it in order to use it...
I do have NVIDIA firewall installed on my box...would that block it? I can ping my machine just fine from hers, however, the dang printer isn't listed. Last edited by idyllhands; 07-27-2008 at 12:43 PM. |
