My home network consists of two Dell computers running XP SP3. I connect to Comcast (cable modem). A Dynex router and ethernet wire provides the connection.
Both computers can access the Internet fine. Each computer can ping the other. McAfee security shows both computers in the network diagram. Computer 1 shows both computers in My Network Places and can access shared files on Computer 2. Computer 2 only shows Computer 2 in My Network places and can not access shared files on Computer 1. I've looked at some earlier threads and checked Administrative Tools - Services, but still have problem. |

Re: File Sharing Problem
Try setting up both computers with a static ip. Make both ip's identical except for the last digit.. e.g. 10.0.0.37 and 10.0.0.38.
They should have the same default gateway aswell. Also check all firewalls etc. Hope that helps. |
