local area network cable not pluged in... but it is!

as the title states... have it conneted to a hub(computer (B)), connected to the DSL modem, the other computer(computer (A)) (both run xp) is conneted directly to the modem via USB.
the computer connected via USB is able to view/access the one connected to the hub but not visa versa, also conneted to the hub is a xbox 360.

i think the problems with (B), as even tho (A) is able to view it, the icon for "local area network cable is unplugged".... which it is.

yeah... i have very basic knowledge of seting up networks.. all usual set ups have been run.. but still nothing.

any ideas?

Sounds a lot like a firewall blocking the access. The "cable unplugged" is not significant if that's not the connection you're using.

Let's see this for each computer.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands.

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
