File Sharing[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

I just put my desktop and my laptop on a network. I want to share files from the desktop with the laptop. I have followed all the instructions in Windows help. Both are Vista. The files are showing up, but when I try to access any file from the Laptop, I get a popup saying I can't access the file, something to do with the password. I know this isn't much, but I am at work and don't have the exact info. I will revise this when I get home with the message I am getting.

For now at least, is there a simple way to set up file sharing between the 2?

Re: File Sharing

go to the control panel, network, network and sharings center. go to the bottom and turn the file sharing password feature. if that don't fix your problem, go to the folder that the files is in on your desktop pc and go to properties, security, and make sure that the user EVERYONE is up there and that it and all of the other users have full control. if not. go to edit and click the full control box. if you can't access the box, click advanced, owner, edit, and select your username or administrator and click ok. close out of properties for that folder and go back in so the settings can take effect. then go to security, edit and click the full control box for EVERYONE. if EVERYONE isn't up there, click edit, add and type it in (its in all upercase on mine for some reason) and click ok. then the whole full control thing. let me know how this helps.

Thanks, I will try that. I got home and checked the error message I was getting and it just stated the file cannot be accessed to check my spelling and it gives me a window to diagnose which doesn't do anything,
