Angry Ics - ip Conflict ! [moved from XP]

Hi can somebody please give me some help?
I am running XP pro and i cant get my ics working, i have a network of 2 PC's running through a switch also connected to the switch is a Iburst modem (basically a dsl modem:)

i manually set the ip on the second computer to 192.168.0.2 and then when i set ics on my pc it says the IP is already in use...... but it isnt! i cant set my address to 192.168.0.1.

how do i find what is causing this conflict if its not my pc and the 2nd pc or router what can it be?

maybe is there a way i can set my host address to something else and still get ics working?

Thanks in advance

Re: Ip Conflict!!!

Hi sangreer and welcome to TSF !

Have you tried to set the IP settings to automatic on both computers ?

I'll move your thread to the File and Application Sharing section where you'll have better help.

For ICS, you can't connect the modem and the two machines to the switch. The modem goes to a port on one machine (The ICS master), and the second Ethernet port (yes, you need two NIC's) goes to the second machine using a crossover cable.

Take a look at this Microsoft ICS (Internet Connection Sharing tutorial.
