Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this question, I'm a bit new to all this. One of my PC's recently failed while I was playing a game, I've determined the problem is the graphics card but cannot afford a replacment just yet. The PC now without a graphics card has all my valuable data on it which I desperatly need to retrieve but obviously cant since the monitor wont work. I cant install the drive as a slave on my other PC's either as they are IDE connections and the PC in question uses SATA, I could get a converter but this seems to cost around the same as a cheap graphics card (which I can't afford).
Is there any possible way to connect the two computers (via ethernet for example) without having to run the network setup wizard on the PC with no graphics card so I can retrieve the data? ![]() Please if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it. |

Re: Is it possible to create a network between two PC's if one hasn't got graphics ca
Welcome to TSF
One solution would be to get an external enclosure for the HDD like one of THESE It would allow you to access the drive through your USB. You can connect two systems together using a crossover cable but with out getting in and sharing the drive on the damaged machine it likely would not work.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate the time you've taken. A very good idea however same money problem I'm afraid, although it may be handy to have an external enclosure for the future (one for the shopping list). I didnt think it was plausable to network two pcs without accepting the connection on the host but if anybody knew how, it'd be sombody here
![]() Thanks anyway. |
