File sharing

I had my computers connected via a wired network and could see my other computers in my network places , but sometimes i did not see them Than I did the network setup wizard en than it worked for a while but now I can not figure out what to do to see my other computers in my network places so that i can share files

I would check to see if the computers are on the same workgroup. Some versions of XP use a workgroup called 'MSHome', others are simply called 'WORKGROUP'. The wizard should allow you to set the workgroup name to match the others.

First off, disable ALL software firewalls to get it working.

On each of the computers, let's see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following two commands:

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
