[SOLVED] Vista to XP networking problems

Hey Everybody,

I can't access the shared folders on one computer in my network from most of the other computers.

The computer I'm trying to access (computer A) is running XP Pro w/ SP2. When I typed ipconfig /all on this computer I noticed that Netbios over TCP/IP is disabled, but when I check under Local Area Connection Properties it is set to enabled.

Computer B is also running XP Pro w/ SP2, and it is the only computer that can see the shares on computer A. No problems between A and B. This computer dual boots XP Pro and Vista Home Premium. When it is running Vista, it cannot access A.

Computer C is running XP Home. It can see and connect to B and D, but not A.

Computer D is a laptop running Vista Business 32-bit. It is connected to the network wirelessly, and all the other computers are connected to the router over ethernet. My primary goal is to get D to see the shares on A. I can ping A's IP address with D, but pinging the name returns nothing. I can access A by using Remote Desktop Connection over the network.

I saw johnwill's guide, and I believe I've done everything on there. All those services are activated and set to automatic on A and D, simple file sharing is off, permissions are enabled, same subnet and workgroup, and all firewalls on A and D are off.

I have Network Magic installed on all computers, and I receive an error when I try to open a shared folder between A and D. I used the troubleshoot sharing feature in Network Magic, and it told me that the network shares appear accessible between A and D.

Edit: Sorry, this is probably in the wrong section.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
